Staying just outside the island of Manhattan, in Queen's where we would take a daily commute from a station that was just a little scary, we decided we were making no delays in seeing the city. We would not be defeated by the subway system! So we headed up the stairs, bought our week long unlimited metro cards and challenged the N train to get us lost - we did in fact win this challenge although the turnstiles made a bold attempt to leave certain persons (Kaitlynn) of our party abandoned on the other side. Luckily we were rescued by a real New Yorker who just watched us for a few seconds and then opened up the emergency exit. As it would turn out, it does not sound an alarm, and we ended up successfully sitting on the benches and racing under the East River... |
After an excellent dinner at Lilly's - where they supposedly have the longest bar in New York, we took the time to brave the Square and spent the evening narrowly avoiding flea/scotch - ridden Elmos.
