So there we were on Achill Island, where the landscape is different than anything we've seen so far. The shorelines are rocky and the cliffs easily rival those of the Cliffs of Moher. And the sheep.... so many sheep. They're everywhere with no fences to keep them off the road. And there verrrrry dangerous. Those things aren't afraid of anything, sometimes even not of the giant van. |
We got a big change of plans today courtesy of our B&B host. Instead of following our map on our way up to Northern Ireland, we were sent to Achill Island - and island off the coast, connected by a bridge, where all of the signs are in Irish (it's a good thing we have our handy dandy SAT-NAV because no one has a clue which direction we're going)... The end of our day brought us to Londonderry where we were treated to another round of fireworks, a pirate ship made from a wagon and men on stilts, and some really sketchy looking punks.
